Aeropress

Aeropress is one of the newest brewing methods to come along. Aerobie, its manufacturer, boasts that it produces the world's Smoothest, Richest, Purest and Fastest Brews.

It is so popular that it has reached cult status in the very short time since its invention in 2005.  There is even a World Aeropress Championship.

Here is our basic Aeropress recipe for a American coffee:

  1. Rinse the paper filter with running tap water for 10 seconds

  2. Use 14 grams of freshly fine ground coffee (light roast)

  3. Pour 200 grams of water at about 205°F (removed about 45 seconds from  boiling) over the coffee.

  4. Stir 3 times and steep for 60 seconds.

  5. Place the handle on the Aeropress in order to prevent the water from draining through the filter.

  6. After 60 second steep time, take the handle off, stir 3 times back to front.

  7. Then place the handle on top of the aeropress and press through steadily using a lot of pressure.

For a stronger coffee similar to espresso:

  1. Rinse the paper filter with running tap water for 10 seconds

  2. Use 20 grams of espresso roasted coffee  ground (quite fine)

  3. Pour 100 – 150g of water brought to a boil on the ground coffee.

  4. Give the brew 3 vigourous stirs.

  5. Press through steadily using a lot of pressure.
