Named after the Sidamo province of Southern Ethiopia which is famous for the fertile highlands south of Lake Awasa and their coffee. With only one harvest late in the year this coffee is known for its warm and resonating flavor.
This natural (sun-dried) Decaf African coffee is absolutely the sweetest, wine-like, aromatic Decaf we have to offer - this is due to the considerably more primitive sun-drying process. Ripe red, hand-picked cherries are dried fully in the sun until the seed can be cracked apart in a mill and the dried remains of the fruit sorted out by hand. There's always a variety of shapes, sizes and colors in the roast, as the coffee is completely wild, un-screened, and therefore not uniform.
Ethiopian Sidamo coffee exhibits gentle almond nuances with balanced acidity and medium body.

Ethiopian Decaf

  • Coffee Decaffeination:
The Royal Select Water Decaffeination process uses clean, pure water. The green coffee beans are immersed in water in order to extract the caffeine. The water contains the soluble components of the coffee beans which hold the elements of the individual coffee's flavor, so that during the extraction of the caffeine the beans maintain their original taste components. The resulting coffee is 99.9% caffeine free. Once the process is finished the beans are dried and packed. We have found that this ultra modern Mexican plant produces the purest and cleanest decaf coffee. In addition, the process can be performed on relatively small lots of coffee - this means top quality coffees, rather than volume coffees - can be decaffeinated.
